Without limiting the foregoing, WOMCY and its designees reserve the right to remove you or other User Content from the Site’s Lists for any reason it deems necessary, including but not limited to, the posting information that is off-topic, the sharing information outside of the Site’s Lists, or any other act in violation of the Site’s FAQs. 

You will receive a password and account designation upon completing the registration process. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the passwords and accounts and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your passwords or accounts. You agree to (a) immediately notify WOMCY of any unauthorized use of your passwords or accounts or any other breach of security, and (b) ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. WOMCY cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this Section.

For certain purposes of this Privacy Statement, we distinguish between individuals who choose to register and join WOMCY as a member (“Members”) and users of our website (the “Site”, including womcy.org) who simply visit the Site (“Visitors”) and do not choose to register as Members. Unless indicated otherwise, all provisions of this Privacy Statement apply to Visitors and Members. This Privacy Statement applies to our Site.

  1. When we obtain legally available information from external sources, including commercially available geographic and demographic information, and publicly available information such as social media posts. 

In line with WOMCY’s goals and objectives, we are committed to respecting the privacy of our website visitors and members. We adhere to the principles described in the LGPD and guarantee the rights of data subjects as outlined in Article 18: 

  1. Confirmation of the existence of data processing.

  1. Correction of incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data. 
  1. Anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary, excessive, or unlawfully processed data.

What Kind of Data Do We Collect? 

Personal information includes any data that can be used to identify an individual, such as first and last name, home address, email address, telephone number, document number, or other contact information. Depending on how you interact with WOMCY, you may be asked to provide the following personal data: 

  • Name, Email, Country of residence, Date of birth and/or age 
  • Company name, Career level, Information typically included on a resume 
  • Gender, Mailing Address, Telephone or Contact Number or Mobile 
  • Organization/Company, Position/Function, Professional Affiliation 
  • Education 
  • Special Needs or Accommodations (for in-person events) 
  • IP Address and Cookie Information (depending on the cookies you accept on our website; for more information, review our cookie policy) 

Some information requested when interacting with WOMCY is optional, while some is required for specific processes, transactions, or interactions. If you have questions about the information collected for a specific purpose, please contact us at [email protected]. 

WOMCY also automatically receives and records information from your browser, including your IP address and information transmitted by cookies and similar technologies. This information is automatically recorded and will not be connected with your personal information by WOMCY for any reason. 

For donors, payment information is not collected or stored on our servers. All payment and credit card information for transactions with us is entered directly into third-party processors’ systems. All credit card transactions on this site are processed by PayPal, Inc. and Square. 

Eventbrite is the event management platform we use to create and manage our events and actions open to members and the general public. All registrations made on this platform are the responsibility of Eventbrite. This means we cannot guarantee or intervene in the way the company handles data and implements its Privacy Policy. We use our best efforts to ensure it is fair, transparent, adequate, and secure, in accordance with the terms of use presented to us. 

When you sign up for a WOMCY event using the Eventbrite website, your registration will remain on the platform after the event, as data processing by Eventbrite follows its own rules. WOMCY only defines the necessary information in the Registration Form and collects, stores, and processes this data to properly manage the event, meet expectations, and fulfill our commitment to quality in the events for which you have registered.

Other third-party tools, including but not limited to Teams, Telegram, WhatsApp, and various online communication platforms and social networks such as LinkedIn, operate under their own data processing rules, legal notices, privacy policies, and data protection measures. When selecting any of these channels for interaction and communication with WOMCY, members/data subjects do so at their own discretion and assume full responsibility for their choice. 

WOMCY does not interfere with or mandate the use of any specific communication channels, including work groups, social networks, or other online platforms. The choice to use such means for interaction and communication with WOMCY is entirely at the discretion of the member/data subject. Members must be aware of and understand the risks, issues, or concerns associated with each site or software. If a member does not agree with the terms and conditions set forth by the companies operating these platforms, they are free to opt for alternative methods of communication.

We may use the personal information we collect through our website, the event management platform (Eventbrite), at in-person or virtual events, and on our social networks to establish and enhance our relationship with you. The processing of your data depends on the channel you choose to interact with or become part of the WOMCY Community. Below, you will find information regarding the location, data processing, data types, purpose, legal basis, retention time, and your rights as a Data Subject:

Data Processing for Commercial Purposes or for Sending Commercial Communications 

Can I choose not to receive commercial communications via email?  

When joining WOMCY, Members can choose to include their contact information via social media, WhatsApp, email to our Member email communications and newsletter lists. You can manage your email preferences, including joining and leaving workgroups, member communities, and special interest group communications, by emailing [email protected] 

Each promotional event or related communication we send contains instructions and an opt-out link. Unless you consent (opt-in) to receiving commercial or marketing emails, we will not use your email address for such purposes. You can always change your email preferences by visiting our member portal and clicking on the preferences page. 

Links and Third Party 

The site contains links to other sites, organizations and resources. We clarify that we are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of these other sites, so we always encourage you to read the Privacy Policies of third-party sites, whether they are Womcy partners or other related institutions that collect personal identification information
